Our History

We have a 36-year tradition of high performance, service and excellent prices in Toronto. Printing in the Alicos family dates back to the 1880’s. Uprooted from their home country of Uganda, East Africa, by the political crisis of 1972, Alicos Printings Founders (Sully & Jimmy Jinnah) spent a month in a refugee camp in England. After working for a couple of years in England and operating a small print services business they immigrated to Canada. Training started at childhood in Uganda where Sully Jinnah worked in the well-established family print shop started by her father. Family expertise in the print industry can be traced back to the 1880’s when her pioneering great grandfather ran the family’s first print shop under the British Raj in India.

Alicos printing first opened it’s doors in Toronto as Collegiate Copy Centre in 1977. Within five years we had established ourselves as the best service and price oriented copy centre in the downtown core. Over the years our clientele increased and we felt the need to expand. In 1989 we opened our second location as Alicos Copy Centre. Ali Jinnah (CO-Founder of Alicosgroup with Navida Jinnah) gained certification from Xerox, Canon and Kodak as a production Operator at the age of 8 and joined the business full time at the tender but already experienced age of 18. Ali now proudly continues a tradition that spans three continents and four generations.

Technology has changed the print industry and the needs of our clients along with it. To accommodate these needs we have added new services and launched our CorporateServices division helping our client’s business growth.
